The Next Generation Design Institute (NGDI) is a 10-day summer internship program for high school juniors and seniors with an interest in architecture, engineering or design hosted by Huckabee & Associates, a 45-year old Fort Worth-based architecture firm. For a decade, NGDI has helped high school students envision a tomorrow in the field of architecture. The goal of NGDI is to help students answer the question: is architecture a career for me? And whether that answer is ultimately yes or no, our students receive an invaluable experience that provides quality instruction and preparation for their collegiate and professional endeavors.

During the program, student interns will have their own workstation in Huckabee’s production department where they will get a taste of the fast-paced world of architecture! Students will be assigned a project to complete in teams, and at the end, present them to a panel of judges, their families, friends and the Huckabee team. During their time at Huckabee, students will visit a construction site, meet with executives, learn about the business of architecture and travel to The University of Texas at Arlington to work in the architectural studios, develop their presentation vignette and build models of their projects.

This is a very unique opportunity to get free, hands-on, real world exposure to the industry of architecture from the perspective of a professional firm. It is an intensive, exciting 10-days, where you will learn, create and be treated like a professional.
